Stop supporting oil companies…they already have record profits!

The oil companies care about profits. That is it. When the spill stops the oil will not go away. There is NO WAY to clean the spill completely. You can protest BP all you want, but unless we move toward clean energy, like wind, nothing is going to change. Until we hold companies accountable for preventing future spills ALL offshore drilling needs to cease. People like Sharron Angle, who is running for Senate in Nevada, who think deregulation is the answer are nuts. Why would a company who doesn’t follow the simple regulations now be better at  self-regulation?

There was a great clip on Rachel Maddow Monday. It’s 6 minutes long, and although it points out the obvious everyone should watch it. Even if you are not a fan of Maddow, the segment makes some great points.

It’s not about us versus them. It doesn’t matter that BP is not an American company. This is one Earth we live on. We are all One when it comes to our planet. Drilling somewhere else is not better. Whether oil is spilled in the Gulf of Mexico or Alaska, or Australia, or France or Spain  or Nigeria, or anywhere else on our Earth; oil spills have the same impact on our Earth. We need to stop being victims of oil. We need energy reform. We need to  quick talking about it and make it happen.

What are you going to do to discourage offshore drilling? What are you going to do to lower your consumption of oil? When the news stop broadcasting the oil spill will you become complacent again?

Like I said in my previous post, 60% of American’s are idiots and/or uninformed, how many people have to die before we change our dependence on oil? How many animals have to die? How much does the climate have to change before we wake up and see what we are doing to our planet?

I hope President Obama steps up and moves forward, unlike all those presidents before him, and does what is needed to prevent these disasters from having the opportunity to occur in the future.
